    S600 Flash

I have an s600 that won't fire the flash. I checked the flash cap against a good one and it appears to be ok. For some reason the cap isn't charging although the LCD display shows the green indicator to indicate it is charging. After trying to get it to fire buy taking a few pics if i then remove the batteries and try to discharge it with my resistor I don't even get the faintest spark. Even tried touching the terminals with my finger...not even a tingle. All ribbons seem to be in good condition and I can't see any corrosion anywhere. Apart from the flash everything else works as it should. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I think you're right about the main board, I tried initialising the camera but that didn't help. Another one for the parts box.
  3. I am curious to know if the people who make and sell control boards to the homebrew community keep their codes in more than one place? You may have seen an earlier post of mine where I have a board that was working with it's original code and I asked if the record timings could be changed? A new code was supplied but it was for a later version of the control board that had just been released and because i programmed my 20m2 chip with the wrong code the board is now useless. As the original code was lost after a computer crash from the supplier it now appears that the control board will end up in the bin. I suppose anyone else that has an older board that has a hiccup with the code will probably end up with the same problem. I think we all know that in the electronic age that anything of importance MUST be saved in more than one location. Sorry guys but I had to get that off my chest.

Question for the "Board builders and Suppliers

Yes in a pm you did offer a new board, when the Reed relay was faulty and it wouldn't record.. I replaced the relay and the board then worked. I let you know and you replied "awesome" The wrong code I was given has unfortunately rendered the board as useless. That's enough from me on the matter.
  5. I am looking for a copy of a dxg125 code that was written for a Critter Getter V 5.0 control board. I was given a new code with different record timings that I was after but unfortunately it was for the latest Critter Getter board and apparently the old and new boards have different pin allocations ( dont understand that) so a board that was working, now doesn't . Firemanjim had a computer crash a while ago and lost all of his old codes and although he has tried he cannot get the code to work with the V 5.0 board. So if anyone has a copy of a dxg125 code that was written for the critter getter V 5.0 control board i would greatly appreciate it if you could share it with me. Thank you
  6. Looks good to me. I prefer the white light arrays and it doesn't seem to bother the animals at all. Once a big old sambar doe walked right up to the array for a closer look and stuck her nose on it....she didnt't like the burnt nostrels that's for sure.

    Instagram

I first started using Instagram to keep in contact with my nieces and nephews as they grew wings and took off all around the world. I then wondered if anyone would be interested is seeing my trailcam pics and videos? People from all around the world are interested. You can put 1 minute clips on with sound and it only takes about 30 seconds. You can go back and edit or delete at any time and it is amazing just how many trailcams are used around the world. There is private messages as well and you can block people from seeing your stuff if you desire.

    Instagram

I have finally given up trying to upload videos to photobucket so i can share them on here...it takes hours of time to get 1 small video to upload and then when it it looks like it finally worked...there's nothing there. Not sure if anyone else on here has an Instagram account but if you do you can check out my homebrew video clips on there. Key in the tag below if you want to have a look. Thanks @bushphotographer

    Project 3 Eye's

Geez mate you've had your fair share of knocks... more than most I'd suggest. Great to see your getting on with life and still getting enjoyment from making cams.

    Crypto currency

Here in Australia all advice is to steer clear as there is no backup if it goes belly up.

Wow , has this been on the go for around 10 years?

    What is this?

I got this in a box of bits and don't know what it is. It looks like something to program chips in. Does anyone know what it is?

    Video cams - what's new

Checked eBay and found this $10 jazz camcorder..no sure if its the same as yours? What is the advantage of the jazz you are using compared to a dxg125? Good job on your hack tutorial, i found it very easy to follow. 👍 https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232744693782

    4K Action Cam

I got a cheap 4k video camera from China to see if I could hack it and make a trailcam out of it. The camera itself is tiny about 2 x 1 1/2 inches, i got it apart and got wires soldered to the power and record buttons, also got wires soldered to the battery terminals for external power. Camera is powered by a 3.6v rechargable battery. Got it back together and if I touch the power wires together it turns on and if I touch them again it turns off. Only thing is to turn it off the wires need to be together for a couple of seconds. With the camera on if i touch the record wires together it starts to record, touch them again and it stops recording. I think the hack is ok. I have 2 bigfoot control boards here that I can program for DXG125 videos but have no idea what program I would need to get this camera working with the control board. Does anyone have any bigfoot programs that i could try with this camera? I can load the programs to the board but cannot write programs. Thank you JW

    4K Action Cam

I haven't been able to get my head around ir conversions so have gone with the white light arrays. They are bright, cheap and there are lots to choose from. I have always used photobucket to post my videos but for some reason I can't upload to it now.

    4K Action Cam

Since I opened the camera up to take a picture of the hack I have now added an external mic and pre amp. Works great and makes the videos a lot more interesting.

    4K Action Cam

Yes that is where I have my power connections. I wonder if yours shuts down because the triple A battery is only 1.5v and the camera runs off 3.7v? I'm using a 3.7v 18650 battery for external power.

    4K Action Cam

This is how I hacked my camera for power and shutter. I couldn't flip the camera board for a pic of the external power hack as i gooped the wires through the back of the case, but I just soldered directly to where the battery contacts the terminals. I think you might have your external wires where I have my power wires?

Thanks Jim I appreciate what you have done for me. I will try and load the code when I get back home after Easter and will let you know how it goes.

    Big Bertha

After spending way too much trying to get enough light from white light led arrays for my DXG125 video cams I had conceded defeat...or I thought I had until I saw the white light go pro builds on here. I got two 36watt flood led arrays for $34, put one at the top of a 1060 case and the second at the bottom. Nothing petite about this build that's for sure and pretty hard to camo the reflectors. I got a sla battery from a recycler for $4 that was a used as a backup for something and is like brand new. I liquid nailed and camoed the battery and will hang it off the python cable. Testing in the garage I got 38 3 minute videos and the battery was still reading over 11 volts. Not sure what the amp hour rating of the battery is. Very bright in the garage but time will tell how it goes in the bush. I'll set it up over Easter for a proper test.

    Big Bertha

Jim would you be able to modify one or your dxg125 codes to record for 3 minutes during daylight and 1 1/2 minutes once dark? Thank you.
  23. Jonnie Wilson

    Big Bertha

Yes i think the SLA is the only way to go for the 36 watt arrays. If i test my battery with the 2 arrays on it still puts out over 10 volts after 34 3 minute videos. After 38 videos it was holding 9.4 volts with both arrays on. Ralph do you know if a code could be written to record for say 3 minutes in daylight and once dark is detected and the array is activated to record for a shorter time?
  24. Jonnie Wilson

    Big Bertha

Yes for deer I use a 3 minute record, for kangaroos and birds I go for 30 seconds.

    From a fallen white pine

Great pics. I'm a big fan of the White Flash and are convinced that it doesn't scare wildlife at all. Humans are another story!
