Doubled Up On Bucks This Morning

16 posts in this topic

Had a beautiful 19 degree morning with a heavy frost here in WI this morning. A day just made for "Tricking" deer. I shot these two bucks 33 minutes apart. The bigger one I knew I did not have a good hit on. So waited 6 hours to go find and he was stiff but warm when found. Sure glad we waited on him. Hit a little far back and out the off side hind quarter on a pretty hard angling toward me shot. Made it about 200 yards with a hole in the liver and one lung.

Wow ! It is going to be hard to beat that day of deer hunting. Good job on letting the buck alone for a while after that bad hit.

Congrats, nice bucks!!

Are you in a CWD intensive harvest zone or earn-a-buck? Just curious how you can shoot (2) antlered deer in one year?

I am in the CWD zone. Which in turn makes it a earn a buck zone as well. We get a buck tag with the bow license and with the gun license. Then we can get 4 free doe tags each day. Then once you harvest a doe you get another buck tag when you register it. So in theory I can shoot several hundred bucks a year.

I had 3 buck tags with me on this morning.
