GoPro backyard videos

Recommended Posts

Nothing spectacular just some footage captured on a GoPro Hero HD1 trail camera with 2 wireless LED arrays. The system is controlled by the Safari Camera Control board with Mosfet Backpacker. I have an 18 watt wireless light mounted just above the camera and a 36 watt wireless light mounted 15 feet to the right of the camera. My plans are to add a 3rd wireless light positioned at about a 45 degree angle 15 to 20 feet left of the camera. During testing over the past week I have had over fifty 37 second video clips at night and the wireless lights have worked flawlessly.

Cool setup what is powering the LED, 18650?

I am powering the 18 watt LED array with four 18650 batteries with a total voltage of close to 16 volts. For the 36 watt light I had planned to use a 12v 7ah SLA but the only one I have wouldn't hold a charge so I improvised. Since this is setup behind my boat shed I used a 12v ac to dc charger that I had saved from something. Ran 16 gauge speaker wire from the charger out the back of the shed to my light so I now have a continuous power supply to that light until I can get a replacement SLA battery. I tried using 18650 batteries to power the 36 watt light last year but they just didn't last very long for that big light but they work great for the 18 watt lights. During my testing last winter I was getting about 1 1/2 to almost 2 hours of run time on the 18650s in the 18 watt light.
