I don't understand it, don't want to understand it, ain't gonna try to understand it! Just need these bad boys made up... now some of you guys get busy and get us a good slave flash fixed and get back to enjoying this. You know you love it and we love for you to build them for us. We NEED them, come on guys work this project out and get it going for us.

Whoopee, hopefully in the near future we will see a better slave flash coming on board..

Now Jon if you happen to find any more of those old power slave boards laying around..... I still need some of them.... I was crazy enough to let one of mine go thinking Jon was coming back after awhile and building some more of them unsure.gif Thanks Jon for the ones I do have and maybe just maybe you will hop back in here with a new one for us. We appreciate it if you do! worthy.gif

Went and looked what this is going to cost...good and cheap...$0.40 for the chip...the mosfet is about a buck... and the rest is less than that

I have most of the rest anyway biggrin.gif

Question.....can I jump across the source and drain on the mosfet, so I have a way to test the flash, or have it always on? Or will this eventually cause a problem?

I'm not exactly sure of your question... it won't hurt anything to jump across the Drain and Source of the MOSFET.

On the one I've got running on the bench, I have a test switch that has a 10K resistor wired between in series with it, and this goes from the +V to the "TRIGGER" input so I can make it charge up the flash for testing. I've got an LED wired up so I can see when it kicks the flash unit ON.

Incidentally, I've had this one running on the bench for 8 or 9 days now, I fire the flash every now and then. With a 4-cell AA NiMH battery pack, I was reading 5.2-something volts when I started, and it's reading 5.2-something now, ha. Using 1 second on and 120 seconds off for the refresh, the voltage levels out at about 295 peak (dropping to about 293 by the next refresh). I'm using an old non-DF500 Vivitar with the two resistors cut and 500 uF capacitor with this test unit.

 sounds great!

You answered my confusing question too, I want to just be able to bypass the timer and mosfet and power the slave up... straight from the batteries.

Did anything ever become of this project? It really was sounding like it had promise.

Secret?? You can tell us, you know we want talk biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

My problems would be solved if Jon would build a few more of his original boards, I wished I would have bought a 100 of them when he was making them. tongue.gif
